The Charlotte (Adult) Learning Center, formerly the Charlotte County Literacy Program, was founded in October of 1986, with the mission to help illiterate adults in Charlotte County, Virginia, and surrounding areas learn to read. Our mission remains the same as we attempt to reach out to those who can benefit from our programs; thus improving their lives in all aspects and improving our community.

Since then, the organization has grown to include Southside Virginia Community College (SVCC) sponsored classes in preGEDĀ® and GEDĀ®.

Classes we offer:

  • Basic computer literacy
  • Writing
  • Money management
  • Health literacy
  • Public speaking
  • Family Literacy
  • English for speakers of other languages (ESOL)
  • and more

Don’t see a class you’re looking for attending or teaching? Contact us and we might be able to start one.
